Performance-Enhancing Drugs

Do you think athletes should be punished for using performance-enhancing drugs? Should athletes be aloud to  use performance-enhancing drugs during their sports season, on the off season, or both?

  • It is proven that young athletes have abused this substance. Clinics are trying to train adolescents mostly football players that abuse this drug.
  • Blue Cross And Blue Shield Association surveyed teens between the age 12 and 17 about the drug. Approximately 1.1 million kids this age have potentially taken it.
  • 39% of athletes state that performance-enhancing supplements and drugs are their number one concern in their sport.
  • 27% of teens say they take the drug to make themselves "look better", an increase of 19% since 2001.

    1. I think that when athletes take steroids, it is an unfair advantage to the players with natural talent because it makes them look like they aren't good as they actually are. I never knew how many people took steroids for sports. I knew that there were some, but not as many as there actually were.

    2. I think that performance enhancement drugs are a horrible horrible thing. I think it is wrong and unnatural talent in which they are abusing. If everyone was allowed to use these drugs then the potential rate of athletes would increase because anybody could perform as well as professionals. It gives athletes unfair advantages and should forever be illegal and tests should be performed more often.

    3. it is sad how many athletes actually abuse drugs. It makes the "real" athletes look like they are nothing compared to the athletes that use performance- enhancing drugs. It is terrible when kids who are using drugs to increase there performance are taking all the fame and credit, when in reality there are not "real" athletes at all.

    4. i don't think that people should use performance enhancing drugs because it gives them a cheat. its cheating the other team and players because they are obviously going to a lot better.

    5. I think athletes that abuse drugs are really weak people. They Shouldn't be playing sports and they are not real athletes.

    6. It is terrible how people need to take drugs to just make themselves be better or look better. What happened to being yourself? This is terrible for their body and they probably don't even realize it. Good job Raeanne with your blog!

    7. I really enjoy your blog and the information you gave. As a sports fan, I hate knowing that many athletes are taking performance enhancing drugs and getting credit when the players who are true and genuine are left in the dark.
